Luxury Meets Labor Day at the 2008 Prudential Steamboat Realty & LUXE Magazine

Prudential Steamboat Realty invites you to come along for a complimentary Labor Day Home Tour of Steamboat. Our featured properties will be open for viewing on Saturday, Aug. 30th from 10am to 4pm. The tour will kick off with a brunch at the Prudential office located in Wildhorse Marketplace at 10am hosted by LUXE Magazine.
The tour will include 20 Steamboat residences ranging from Catamount to the Elk River Valley and everything in between with a wide variety of styles and price-points. Be aware of fall construction on Lincoln Avenue in Downtown Steamboat

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has issued a utility permit for work on
Lincoln Avenue between 4th Street and Old Fish Creek Falls Road. Between Tuesday,
September 2nd and Saturday, November 15th, construction crews will be working within
Lincoln Avenue as they upgrade public water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer
infrastructure.
During this time there will be varying detours as they try to accomplish the work safely,
quickly, and with the least amount of disruption feasible. Periodic updates will be provided
on the City Page as work progresses.
The first phase of work will involve installation of a new box culvert and a new sanitary
sewer on the west side of Lincoln Avenue near the Blimpie's restaurant, and should last
two to three weeks. You will notice lane shifts to accommodate the work.
Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained during daylight hours throughout

Steamboat Weekend Activities

As summer moves in full force in the Yampa Valley, there is ALWAYS a "must-see" activity, and this weekend is no different! For the weekend of July 18-20, visitors and locals alike can enjoy a free concert at the base of Howelsen Hill with artist Michael Franti. Franti will also be hosting a yoga session prior to the show benfitting kids in Cambodia.
On Saturday, July 19th be sure and make your way to the Farmers' Market on 6th street. You can find a wide variety of goodies, ranging from fresh food (be sure and get a pie from Sweet Pea!) o unique home furnishings.

A new dining experience in Steamboat Springs!

The Drunken Onion has opened their doors...a new gem of delicious dining located in Wildhorse Marketplace, at the base of a recreation epicenter! Thanks to Chef Extraordinaire, Ben Stroock, I am planning on turning my kitchen into a bike tuning room. This restaurant is the answer to our over-scheduled Steamboat lives...no more trying to fit in a bike ride, round of gold and time to create a gourmet effort for supper. The Drunken Onion provides nutritious options for those of us on the go.
Yesterday for lunch I sampled a delicious sandwich made with the finest Prosciutto & Asiago and a side of fresh, Mediterranean pasta salad, where today was a rotisserie chicken/gruyere wrap. Record Snowfall in Steamboat delays Mountain Bike Race

Announcing The Rio Stampede 12 and 6 Hour Endurance Mountain Bike Race Changes Race Date Due To Record Breaking Snowpack.
Come out west and race with us in the Rio Stampede at the Steamboat Ski area. Legendary climbs and aspen-studded single track await you for this test of skill and endurance. Race either 12 or 6 hours with a team or solo. Not in the best of shape, get your work pals together and race in the corporate division.

Due to the record breaking snowfall of 2008, we are postponing the Rio Stampede until Saturday August 9, 2008. This date ensures the epic course and base area you have come to expect from all the Rio events.

The road less traveled - Ft. Collins to Steamboat
The last car passed 30 minutes ago. Since then, the only life along this lonely length of highway has been four-legged or feathered. Even the radio offers nothing but crackling static. In this high chaparral landscape, more suggestive of Outer Mongolia than Colorado, antelope outnumber people. To an urban dweller the sprawling nothingness can be unsettling.
This lonesome stretch of blacktop is the backdoor route to Steamboat Springs. Beginning in Fort Collins, State Highway 14 winds through some of the most diverse geography in the state. It's not the quickest way to Colorado's northernmost ski town, but for wide open spaces and long sightlines, it can't be beat.

Steamboat Agent Helps to Revitalize Colorado’s State Arbor Day

In April of 2007, more than 3,000 Fourth Grade Foresters all across Colorado rolled up their sleeves and planted a tree. The kids became members of "Fourth Grade Foresters of Colorado". The project goal is to help revitalize a remarkable idea--observation of Arbor Day in America's schools.

Stephanie Fairchild, local real estate agent of Prudential Steamboat Realty, sponsored trees for Soda Creek Elementary School in Steamboat Springs. "This is a wonderful project to get young people involved in Arbor Day and be more aware of our environment," said Fairchild. "I hope they enjoy planting the seedling and watching it grow."

Prudential Steamboat Goes for the Gold…and Green

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association has announced that Prudential Steamboat Realty in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has been awarded Gold Certification status in the Chamber's Sustainable Business Program.

"The owners of Prudential, Pam Vanatta and Cameron Boyd, and their team have shown dedication and leadership in moving their business toward sustainable practices", says Lyn Halliday, President of Environmental Solutions Unltd, LLC the sustainability consultant for the project. Prudential's sustainability coordinator, Angela Ashby, has created an internal team which has developed and begun implementation on a multi-dimensional action plan. The plan will serve to reduce their carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment, as well as enhance resource management. Some of the components include reducing vehicle miles traveled as a result of their operation, improving energy efficiency in their offices, an internal awareness program to increase recycling, and greening of special events that are hosted by Prudential.

Here Comes the Sun…Again!

The Sunshine Kids Foundation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to kids with cancer, is hosting the Third Annual Sunshine Kids Winter Games in Steamboat Springs, February 24 – 29 for young cancer patients from hospitals across the United States. During this incredible week thirty-two kids will have the opportunity to get away from hospital treatments and participate in exciting activities like one on one ski instruction, a sleigh ride dinner, snowmobiling, tubing down the mountain and so much more!
